About Carolyn:

Having grown up in the South East, Carolyn moved to Plymouth over 20 years ago, and has seen huge changes to Plymouth, its University and its image over that time. Carolyn began her career with the NHS in the early 90s having completed a degree and professional qualification at Plymouth University, and has worked in the field of HR ever since. After the NHS she worked for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary in Plymouth and left the public sector in 2002.

Carolyn embraced the private sector and ran her own business in the City for 12 years, before joining Kitsons solicitors to widen the offering of their employment team. Carolyn works with SMEs across Devon, Cornwall and beyond, including many in the healthcare sector, specialising in employee relations issues and working alongside managers to resolve some of their more difficult ‘people’ issues.

Outside her work and the Chamber Carolyn is a School Governor, a Trustee for the Chestnut Appeal and loves jumping in the sea in all weathers as one of the many ‘Wild Swimmers’ in Devon and Cornwall. Carolyn has 2 boys who share her passion for Plymouth.

As a Chamber Director Carolyn’s portfolio is training and she works alongside the team to ensure that our training is delivering what members need, to help them run their businesses effectively. With her strong interest in the healthcare sector she contributes to events and activities around that sector within the Chamber. In terms of representation Carolyn feels that she can present views from an SME perspective and also has strong links in the social enterprise sector, providing a rounded viewpoint when assisting decision making.
